most_unwanted: (out of luck)
[Late at night, Mulder is up and about, wandering aimlessly. He's just received Scully's letter so of course that's sending him into a bit of a broody mindset. Sleep? Ha, no, he's not planning to sleep for a while.]

[On the one hand, she's free of all of this. On the other... she's gone. His partner. The one person he trusts more than anyone. And what she's returning home to doesn't sound very pleasant. It's the future relative to him so he has no way of knowing just how safe she really is. He's not supposed to worry, but he can't stop himself from doing so anyway. The troubling thoughts that always come up at these times are there to bother him, too...]

How do we know they really send us home when we vanish from here, anyway?

[Yeah, this is what happens when you overthink everything.]

For anyone who knew... anyone who knows her, Dana Scully has left the building. I'm sure she's relieved to be somewhere a bit more down to earth.
most_unwanted: (deceive inveigle obfuscate)
[Mulder has noticed the strange sudden influx of people. THIS NEEDS INVESTIGATION. He will be all over town, trying to get information and figure this out. It doesn't match anything else in his files, but he keeps having this feeling that it should for some reason. There's something to this, he knows it, some sense of deja vu... but he just can't seem to put his finger on why this feels so familiar...]
most_unwanted: (believer)
Looks like someone knew exactly what I wanted... or should I say, needed.

[The image focuses on a poster on the wall of Mulder's office area in his apartment. There are a bunch of other things pinned to the wall as well- mostly his own notes, and other things of interest he's collected over time here. But the poster is clearly the focus of the picture. Finally, Mulder moves in.]

Did anyone else catch sight of that sleigh in the sky on Christmas Eve? I know I saw something up there, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a spaceship. This time.

You see... on my world, Santa Claus is a mythical character believed in by children... but I'm starting to wonder now if there might be something to that supposed legend of good old Saint Nick. It would explain the freaky little elves who were running around demanding things, too.

[Believing in children's fantasies is a bit of a stretch even for him usually, but after his sighting and the gift he wonders. Sure, it's just as much possible it's some trick of the Malnosso... but would that matter right now with what this means to him? He glances back to the poster. Back home, it had been burned up in that fire, along with a great deal of his work. Having it back gives him a feeling of hope and renewal.]

Maybe that's what Santa- or someone- wants to tell me. To keep believing, to never give up. It's a very different message than I'd have gotten from a fruitcake.
most_unwanted: (not out of the woods yet)
[Mulder is hanging out somewhere in the forest, standing near a tree that's riddled with bullet holes. He's kind of... stroking the tree with an apologetic look on his face.]

Nothing like having a mix of blatant lies and delicate truths thrown all over the place for the whole world to see... like the rest of the effects weren't enough. Though I give them credit for the one about me being Elvis in a past life. If only.

Anyway, on to the reason I've opened the journal. Has anyone ever managed to reconnect with one of the spirits after losing touch with or outright offending one of them? I'm sure it varies on a case by case basis, but I wonder if it's much harder than the initial contact.

[Why, no, he absolutely did not have any tree-shooting-and-kicking-and-branch-breaking incidents when they were spreading rumors during the experiment. Nope. Not a thing like that at all, not him. Er... uh. Yeeeeeah, ok so he did have a bit of an angry outburst. At a tree. He couldn't help it, at the time they were spreading highly uncomfortable information. What's a guy to do but attempt an interrogation? He can't help it that he gets... overboard, sometimes, when his temper gets the better of him.]

[Speaking of uncomfortable, Mulder is spending an awfully lot of time hanging out near Scully's door. He has things he needs to say but doesn't know where to start.]
most_unwanted: (it was aliens!)
[First half - Alien Invasion AU / Voice post May 28]

[For the early half of the experiment, Mulder is from a post apocalyptic wreck of earth that's been invaded by aliens! He's been fighting the war for a long time, so he's a little bit restless still being stuck in a small village. He opens the book for a message.]

Anyone ever get tired of hanging around this fake little paradise? I've got a little alien party to get back to, I don't have time to play in the woods. Damn extraterrestrials... I swear if I meet any here... If you so much as LOOK like you're from another planet, I'll kick your ass.

[He'll be randomly teleporting around all throughout this first half, mostly ending up in people's houses!]

[Second half - Conspiracy/Abducted AU / Voice post June 3]

[The second half, Mulder has changed, most notably he's only got one arm and a great deal of regret. He's also got a Prophet Mask on, and is floating- yes, literally floating- ALL OVER TOWN hassling people with "predictions". He's also leaving a trail of sparkles wherever he goes. Time for another journal message...]

Why is it that I can envision everyone else's future BUT my own? Just once, I'd like to know how things are gonna turn out. Just once.
most_unwanted: (everything is looking up)
It's hard to believe that I've been here for over a year. I can see the greeting card section now... 'Happy Luceti-versary! I wanted to shift you in a really cool gift but all I got was this stupid card.'

...Admit it, you know they would be that bad.

[A year, and what does he have to show for it? He's uncovered things here and there in pieces, compiled an extensive set of files... and yet he feels no closer to really understanding this place than before. Not only that, but his own personal quest has been delayed so much. It's... kind of depressing. Ok, moving on from that thought for now.]

Not that it's all been gloom and doom here- it's been a valuable experience so far for yours truly. Give or take an experiment or so. There's so much more I still want to know, though... about this place, about the forces in control of it, what causes some people to be drawn here, why some are sent home never to return, why others are stuck here indefinitely... everything.

I guess there's a lot of work ahead...
most_unwanted: (paranoia)
[Missing time. If he were home at least the explanation could be just straightforward "alien abduction". Damn it, Luceti. Most people would say it's a lost cause to bother looking into. But Mulder has to keep attempting, keep investigating. It's just... how to go about it without the resources he used to have? Sometimes he's been able to compensate, but it's always been a challenge here.]

[He'll be hanging out in the library today, all day, going through a huge pile of books. Most of the titles are about gardening, plant life, and similar botanical topics. Could he be pursuing a Filial Spirit to take his mind off things? But there may also be a few hypnosis books quietly snuck in there too, along with the weirder ones on time from other worlds that looked the most interesting...]

Skipping an entire weekend? Now I know they're deliberately trying to torture us... [Even without 'work' in the standard sense, who likes going to bed Friday to wake up Monday?!] Does anyone remember anything from the past weekend? Or notice any details out of place now for that matter, anything at all?
most_unwanted: (insane theories are the best kind)
[Mulder has noticed the horrifying thing about the latest wave of newcomers, and it's really starting to get to him. There's got to be some kind of twisted Malnosso logic at work, right? And a reason why all these wingless people are still alive and well?]

What happened to all of these New Feather's wings?

[And with that, Agent Mulder is heading out ALL OVER THE PLACE to investigate and check out what kinds of newcomers they're bringing in. Maybe he'll find some kind of pattern, a method to their madness... OR NOT.]
most_unwanted: (examine the evidence)
[The voice of Mulder comes on, complete with the sound of him chewing gum.]

If you knew the meaning of existence, but had no way to decipher it, what would you do? Hypothetically. [This whole thing is DRIVING HIM CRAZY. Having the ultimate answer right there just out of reach does that to him.]

You know... for all my experience with psychics, the occult, and astrological phenomena in general... I've rarely seen it be this accurate. Or, for that matter, this specific. Even the good psychics will often tell you that their predictions are open to interpretation. The bad psychics just make it up as they go along. I've met some of both.

Though I'd suggest following any horoscopes that include warnings... that could at least minimize any damage. Yes, Scully, I also mean you. Follow it exactly if you're warned of impending doom. Otherwise, I guess we just have to ride this out and watch for signs of the predictions coming true. At least they don't all seem to be dangerous? Horoscopes are meant to be an insight into the future, after all, for good or bad. They're a way of learning what's in store based on your zodiac sign and the current planetary alignment. Of course the Malnosso have to twist it into their own warped version...

...by the way, are there any experts on goats or farm animals out there? I'd like to ask some questions if you can spare a few minutes.
most_unwanted: (investigative)
Does anyone else notice something distinctly ODD about the moon lately? First of all, it's a little bit bigger than usual. Secondly, it's got a hell of a schnoz- that's the scientific term. It's making me wonder if the 'man in the moon' idea actually has something to it... In any case, I don't think this problem is going to go away overnight. We're approaching All Hallows' Eve, or Samhain, after all, which is known to be a new year in some folkloric traditions... but I'm jumping ahead of myself. A more extensive investigation is needed. There's also one more thing...

[But at this point, he can resist the compulsion no longer, and on goes the Beak Doctor Mask for the rest of the transmission.]

By the way, skinnydipping is an effective method 50% of the time, if you're looking to remove any personality-altering mask. It's guaranteed a 100% success rate if you do it in the Fountain between the hours of noon and 12:06, and are carrying a purple toad on your head. Anything more specific you want me to look at, make an appointment. I do house calls.

[Mulder is roaming ALL OVER THE PLACE and stopping to give 'help' to people in the form of bizarre ideas. BIZARRE IDEAS THAT ACTUALLY WORK. Perhaps the most terrifying thing to this is... his theories aren't too much weirder than his normal. >.>; Pester away!]
most_unwanted: (getting the game on)
[Finally, after all this time! Mulder has found that much-desired basketball. He's in luck too, as it's well-inflated, not a sign of wear or tear on it. Too many times, he's come across half-deflated or otherwise messed up ones. But this one is perfect. It's as if there's finally some compensation for all the usual rounds of disappearances and so on. He's really needed this. He starts dribbling the ball right as he leaves the shop and continues bouncing the thing everywhere he goes throughout the day. It can also be heard in the background of his voice transmission.]

Does anyone have any unique birthday traditions they care to share? I wonder how similar these traditions might be between the worlds... Let's just say I'm curious, for purely theoretical reasons.

...By the way, is there anyone out there who'd be up for shooting some hoops or even getting together a pick-up game of basketball? Of course, we'd actually need to throw together a hoop somehow first, but minor details! If you've never played before, I promise I'll go easy on you.
most_unwanted: (keep your eyes to the sky)
[Things have settled down. Between experiments, amusement parks, abductions and drafts, this is the first nice calm stretch of time he's had in a while. So Mulder's hanging out in the Battle Dome. He's been coming there a lot more lately. The new features interest him, and there are places from home he can't help revisiting. Not always to fight, since it's no longer required, though he throws those scenarios in sometimes too. But mostly he's in there obsessively going back through particular scenes.]

[At the moment, Mulder can be seen sitting in the living room where Samantha disappeared from. The board game Stratego is still set up in place near him, the game left unfinished. It's exactly as the room looked all those years ago. A blinding bright light flashes somewhere in the background.]

I wonder what determines the point in time we're taken from? It appears entirely random from all that I've encountered so far. Almost like someone's throwing darts at a timeline or choosing those times out of a hat. A really ugly hat. I also wonder... why some people are brought here after death. [Jonathan. Gem. ...Sigh.] It doesn't seem fair, to grant someone a new life only to throw them back eventually anyway.

...speaking of that, I've been curious about something for a while. [And needing to expand his files, he's already delved into kidnappings, revival has always been somewhere on his list too.] If anyone who's died before, either here or at home, wouldn't mind indulging me for a couple of questions? I won't ask how it happened or anything, just... some related details on the topic. Thanks in advance.
most_unwanted: (one sorry son of a bitch)
[Mulder is lying half-conscious on the ground somewhere in the general vicinity of the Battle Dome. The skin around his eyes, nose, and mouth is all red and inflamed, and whole sections of feathers have fallen out of his wings. He's got just enough of a mind to recognize that he's felt like this before. Alien blood. He's been exposed somehow, and he's suffering the aftereffects. The how and where he is now might take a bit to catch up with him though.]

[After a moment, a weak voice can be heard on the journals:]

...ice... need... need cold.

[Why can't the return to the village be painless and hassle-free? Or just... returning with a funny haircut or something.]
most_unwanted: (believe.)
[Mulder glances around at the latest scenery. He knows this place, knows it all too well. Skyland Mountain. Where they took Scully. Where so many horrible things started for her- the abduction, the experiments, the cancer, the daughter who never got to really live.]

Up, up, ascending... ascending to the stars...

I wonder, if I wait long enough- Look! They're here! Exactly how it really happened.

[Mulder tilts the journal so that the lights off of a UFO can be seen in the night sky.]

I'm gonna go check this out and see what happens. Someone feed my fish if I'm not back soon...

[Except as Mulder approaches the light a very different kind of abduction takes place, as droids sweep out from the surrounding trees. There's gunfire and fighting sounds, along with Mulder cursing a bunch... and then everything is silent.]
most_unwanted: (oh shit!)
[The first day, his room had been just like his office back home. Nice and cozy, and made him miss it. But on day two, Mulder wakes to discover that his room is an Antarctic... paradise. His teeth are chattering like mad as he goes off to head out.]

It's f- -f- freezing in here. I hope I still have all my toes, I haven't bothered to count. And m- my c- closet is now an entrance to a top secret base, but I can't open the damn thing! I keep wondering if I can get into it, would I still be able to find anything? I know it's not really home, but if it's an exact replica...

...By the way, if anyone comes across a shape-shifting, dark haired man, DON'T SHOOT. This is important. I've already encountered a couple of them, there may be more. I- Shit, I've got to run-

[Following days: Until the final day of the event, Mulder will be running around town in pursuit of Alien Bounty Hunters who appear to have quite literally invaded Luceti. He's noticeably not carrying his gun although he's got it on him since he knows there's other stuff around. Instead he's wielding this pointy steel weapon.]
most_unwanted: (waiting for a sign)
[Mulder seldom drinks. Unless there's a weird cosmic alignment or the aftermath of a disaster of some kind. Right now... would be one of those rare exceptions, while he's hanging around his place sulking. He's got his vodka. He's got his frozen orange juice concentrate. He is all set.]

[A lot has happened all in a row- the draft, the experiment, the attack on the village... Mulder has been immersing himself in work to keep focused on something, but that can only help for so long. Especially with how that attack ended. A little visit to his fake!brother to try and take his mind off things with some geeking around has also ended badly... and that's been the last straw. Losing a sibling. Even a fake one... It unearths a lot of Issues.]

I don't know how many people know him. Knew him. Know. He seemed to keep to himself for the most part. My br... My... He wasn't- really- my brother, but he's gone now. Jonathan Levinson. They sent him home.

...If they really send people home when they disappear for good... [He adds with some annoyance:] Yeah, ok, I get it, I get why you had to pick on my paranoia, guys! I know you're all out there listening to this, collecting data or whatever it is you sorry sons of bitches think you're accomplishing. Thanks. Really. I can't wait to see what you do next.

Maybe we should start taking bets now on what they'll throw at us. Or have a drinking game. Take a sip for every time someone disappears unexpectedly, one huge swig every time you wake up with extra body parts, finish the damn thing when your perception of reality is distorted beyond recognition...

[Filtered/Robert + Don]

Hey, how are you holding up, Robert?

Thought I'd find out the same of you too, Don, see if things are ok, or as much as they can be under the circumstances. I've got something for you, but... it can probably wait for a better time. [He's not getting into detail on the journals.]
most_unwanted: (working on it)
[There's a quiet crunching sound before Mulder speaks up, sounding thoughtful.]

Show of metaphorical hands. Or antennae, whichever you're partial to: Who here has been kidnapped for a special one-on-one date with our captors? I'd like to arrange an off-journal meeting to speak about your personal experiences if anyone happens to have some free time. It shouldn't take long, just a few minutes. I'll be hanging around the shops in town most of the day, I've got some... supplies I've been meaning to find. [Still looking for a basketball, woe and alas.] We can always head elsewhere from there, though.

I understand that it's a sensitive topic for most people, and it's all right if you'd rather not talk about it. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, just slip a note under my door detailing anything you can remember about the experience itself. Anything at all, before, during, after. Your answers will be kept in confidence. I'm in Community Building 7, Floor 2, Room 10.

[Now he's had more time to practice filters, he's trying one out. He's sure this matter has been brought up before at some point in time anyhow, so it's not like it's too sensitive. But he has to ask, since it seems like people never discuss it. At the moment, Mulder can be seen holding a small handheld mirror and tapping it absentmindedly into the palm of his other hand. He has a thoughtful expression on his face.]

...I bet it's been tried before, but... Has anyone ever had the barcode on the back of their neck examined? Is there a doctor in the house, or anyone with a medical background who's ever tried removing it from someone? ....Or maybe just someone in possession of a state of the art grocery store scanner to check it out? [What, YOU NEVER KNOW.] For that matter, can we be entirely sure they haven't implanted anything additional in us?

Aside from that, I'm almost starting to feel a sense of routine and normality, between my ongoing quest to commune with the spirits and now working on what's essentially becoming the Lucetian X-Files. I have some faint hope that documenting the experiments will give me a better understanding of this place. Although I would kill for a computer to type them out on. Uh... not literally kill, for the record.
[/Filter]

A flood of newcomers means I get to officially upgrade my New Feather badge to the next level... [Warning! Warning! Incoming snark mode!] Welcome to paradise, everyone. The food is free, but the TV reception is terrible, the recreational activities consist of reality-altering experiments which will make you wish you were on reality-altering drugs, and the vacation staff running the place have a mysterious fetish for wings. Overall I give this resort a half star. You really should have gone to Disneyworld instead.
most_unwanted: (theorize!)
[Fox is still out and about investigating, putting all of his nifty equipment to good use as he's dealing with the recent appearance of the monsters. When he finally takes a break, it's to catch up with things in general as well as family.]

This might sound like a weird idea, but has anyone managed to capture or otherwise contain one of those beasts? Whatever they are, they could potentially be worth studying. I know I'd find the added information valuable for the S-Files. [The "S" standing for shift, of course- this stuff has always interested him a great deal.]

Beasts and the strangely vivid dreams... I wonder if these things are connected, and if so, how? I mean, it can't be a coincidence they're appearing at the same time, right? The dreams themselves are still troubling. Last night's felt like it was really happening.

[Filtered to family- Jonathan, Andrew (?), ...and yes, even Squall]

How are all of you holding up? You'd better not have gotten yourselves taken away anywhere in all of this mess.
