[There's a quiet crunching sound before Mulder speaks up, sounding thoughtful.]

Show of metaphorical hands. Or antennae, whichever you're partial to: Who here has been kidnapped for a special one-on-one date with our captors? I'd like to arrange an off-journal meeting to speak about your personal experiences if anyone happens to have some free time. It shouldn't take long, just a few minutes. I'll be hanging around the shops in town most of the day, I've got some... supplies I've been meaning to find. [Still looking for a basketball, woe and alas.] We can always head elsewhere from there, though.

I understand that it's a sensitive topic for most people, and it's all right if you'd rather not talk about it. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, just slip a note under my door detailing anything you can remember about the experience itself. Anything at all, before, during, after. Your answers will be kept in confidence. I'm in Community Building 7, Floor 2, Room 10.

Yeah, I've always wondered about that, if it could be a protective measure to keep people on the outside from being able to help those of us stuck in the barrier. Not that I know how they'd be able to do that, but I'm sure things look very different on the other side of that barrier.

But since we are on the topic of such things, perhaps I might be able to ask you a few questions?

[It's only fair, since he's been going around asking so many things of everyone. The investigative side of him hasn't gone away despite a change in settings.]

I was rather curious as to how the experiments have been affecting you during your time here.

[He considers that a moment.]

I've only been through two, so I might still be a bit of a rookie. The species change was... well, honestly, not as bad as it could have been. Uncomfortable at first, but being an extraterrestrial life form was pretty fascinating.

[A pause.]

The alternate life though, that was... a difficult experience, in the aftermath.

The alternative life experiment was tough on all of us, myself included. [He looks towards the window.] So you're not alone.

At last we can all relate, those of us who went through it. No one deserves to have their memories tampered with like that.

Exactly, especially with those whom we love.

[Mulder nods, looking more angered.]

It's not right. Everything they do to us in here is a twisted form of torture, but that goes beyond anything they could do to physically harm us...

You are correct, the Malnosso do not have nor show any kindness for the people here.

We've got to get out of here. I know it's not possible yet, but I believe if we keep working on it... we'll find a way. We have to.

Even if we get out of this village, what if we are sent home? We'll be apart and forget each other.

If only there were some way to get out of here without losing the memories... Maybe if we get rid of the Malnosso, we'll find a way.

Even still, if we are not sent home then where do we go? We know very little of the world beyond the village barrier.

We'd... probably have to figure some of that out as we went along. I don't think it would be completely easy, even then... But at least we'd be free from being used as test subjects.

This is true, however did you ever consider the fact of us being able to take supplies out of this village? If we cannot, people will end up starving or getting sick without proper treatment.

If this escape ever became a reality, we'd have to make those provisions, of course.

You seem well versed or knowledgeable with these types of situations, what was your profession before coming here if I may ask?

I'm an FBI Agent, a type of law enforcement. My expertise is investigating crimes with a distinct... supernatural aspect to them. This kind of situation? Well, I'm usually on the other side of things, solving mysterious abductions...

[Or trying to solve at any rate.]

That's quite impressive, Mister Mulder. I wonder if the Malnosso would allow you on their side if they knew of your abilities.

You mean go undercover and work within their ranks? I would be willing to try, if it meant I could help the village...

[He and Gem have spoken quite a few times about these sorts of plans. He's all for trying if he gets the chance. He has worked undercover cases before.]

I would be interested in trying such a thing as well, but I do not think I am able to perform such tasks.

If you could act, or lie well, chances are you could do it. Though it's not for the faint of heart, especially when you have to do things to gain their trust.

[Getting one's fingers broken, running in to bank robberies wearing monster masks... yeah undercover is, uh. Fun times. :|]

Well let's simply say that the former more than the latter is something I'm use to doing.

Then maybe you'd be able to handle it. It's not an easy thing to do, but sometimes it really can make a difference against certain enemies.
