[Filtered To Residents; 88%]
[Now he's had more time to practice filters, he's trying one out. He's sure this matter has been brought up before at some point in time anyhow, so it's not like it's too sensitive. But he has to ask, since it seems like people never discuss it. At the moment, Mulder can be seen holding a small handheld mirror and tapping it absentmindedly into the palm of his other hand. He has a thoughtful expression on his face.]

...I bet it's been tried before, but... Has anyone ever had the barcode on the back of their neck examined? Is there a doctor in the house, or anyone with a medical background who's ever tried removing it from someone? ....Or maybe just someone in possession of a state of the art grocery store scanner to check it out? [What, YOU NEVER KNOW.] For that matter, can we be entirely sure they haven't implanted anything additional in us?

Aside from that, I'm almost starting to feel a sense of routine and normality, between my ongoing quest to commune with the spirits and now working on what's essentially becoming the Lucetian X-Files. I have some faint hope that documenting the experiments will give me a better understanding of this place. Although I would kill for a computer to type them out on. Uh... not literally kill, for the record.

A flood of newcomers means I get to officially upgrade my New Feather badge to the next level... [Warning! Warning! Incoming snark mode!] Welcome to paradise, everyone. The food is free, but the TV reception is terrible, the recreational activities consist of reality-altering experiments which will make you wish you were on reality-altering drugs, and the vacation staff running the place have a mysterious fetish for wings. Overall I give this resort a half star. You really should have gone to Disneyworld instead.

[Oh, Mulder. Giles would almost give you a round of applause. As it is, he's just...going to laugh. A lot.]

And let's not forget the security staff. Impolite and uncooperative as anything.

[It's pretty much all one can do sometimes when a situation is so beyond crazy like this... laugh at it.]

And they always have such terrible timing. Management should seriously think about giving them some time off. Permanently.

Yes, I hear the scrapyards are just lovely this time of year.

[Yes, he's still blind. Yes, he can barely keep his eyes open in a dim room. Laughter, amidst all this insanity, really is the best medicine. That was one good lesson he managed to take away from Sunnydale.]

And I bet some of them would find enlightenment through finding new purposes in life... say, as toasters or vacuum cleaners.

[And that's next on Mulder's mind as well, speaking of their droid 'friends.']

...How are you doing, by the way?

[Oh, give Giles a second before he goes on to serious talk. That is a truly glorious mental image.

But after a few seconds, he sighs.]

My arm is healing.

My eyes aren't. Not yet. The best I can say is that they might be a little less sensitive to light than they were at first.

[Such amusing mental images are how to stay sane around here. Mulder gives him the time he needs to answer.]

I've heard the effects can last a while after the kidnappings... so it's good to hear that you're having some improvement.

At the very least, I've never heard of such an effect being permanent.

But my eyes weren't in terribly good shape to start with.

Neither have I, which is one of the few things we have going for us on our side. No permanent effects... So far. Unless you count the wings.

Hopefully your vision will be back to the normal state, I know it's too much to ask them to use their powers for good rather than evil and actually fix something for once...

They did fix my arm. Does that count?

[Okay, the medication they used reacted specially violently with healing magic and they didn't bother to tell Giles. Still.]

Only if it didn't come with weird side effects.

...well, now that you mention it, they did rig the medication to start boiling when my flatmate tried a healing spell.

An allergy to healing? That's a bad one. I mean, I guess there are worse things that could happen considering the experiments' creative nature, but it still sounds unpleasant.

It was.

...we don't know if it's a full blown allergy, but I wouldn't put it past them.

I just hope it's nothing permanent. We haven't tested otherwise, so I can't be certain.

I've sort of grown to depend on Helios' magic.

...but they've apparently decided that that's a problem.

[Voice]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Helios is a pretty good healer, then?

Hopefully, like most of their effects, what you experienced was only temporary. That's one dependable thing about this place, usually...

Not as good as Raine or some of the workers at the clinic, but yes. He has patched me up quite nicely on multiple occasions.

Experiments, kidnappings, death, living here at all...there aren't even two certainties in Luceti, are there?

[Voice]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-21 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. We can only be certain about... the uncertainty itself.

That's about as pithy as "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

...unfortunately, I'm afraid it might be as accurate.
