...I bet it's been tried before, but... Has anyone ever had the barcode on the back of their neck examined? Is there a doctor in the house, or anyone with a medical background who's ever tried removing it from someone? ....Or maybe just someone in possession of a state of the art grocery store scanner to check it out? Aside from that, I'm almost starting to feel a sense of routine and normality, between my ongoing quest to commune with the spirits and now working on what's essentially becoming the Lucetian X-Files. I have some faint hope that documenting the experiments will give me a better understanding of this place. Although I would kill for a computer to type them out on. Uh... not literally kill, for the record.

The food is free, but the TV reception is terrible, the recreational activities consist of reality-altering experiments which will make you wish you were on reality-altering drugs, and the vacation staff running the place have a mysterious fetish for wings. Overall I give this resort a half star. You really should have gone to Disneyworld instead.

My first guess on the barcode is a tracking device. Maybe where they hide the translator too, because I seriously doubt the entire fabric of reality speaks English as a primary language.

Yeah, usually it involves some kind of a laser- a specialized beam of light if you've never heard of that. They have the capability to read any information that's stored in the barcode.

Tracking device is what makes the most sense to me, too. Maybe they also store some of our identifying information, things like home worlds and so on. Good point about the translation, too, it's a logical assumption, considering that aside from it and the wings, I haven't come across any other abnormal physical alterations. Although implanted devices are hard to be certain about.

...People from the less interesting planets get thrown on sale. I bet it's genetics, though. I'm sure they already have all of our genetic information compiled in a database somewhere.

I'm talking more along the lines of advertising this place across space and time, to warn people what they're getting into. Of course, to do that we'd need some way of getting information out of this place, and that kind of communication is on the side of impossible as far as I can tell. If we could do something like that, we could get out of here.

If only there were some way to get in touch... but I guess the barrier would prevent that somehow, even if we had some means of transmitting that kind of signal.

I could get down with the concept of negative stars. Luceti would end up as the lowest rated interdimensional resort town in the whole universe.
