[Things have settled down. Between experiments, amusement parks, abductions and drafts, this is the first nice calm stretch of time he's had in a while. So Mulder's hanging out in the Battle Dome. He's been coming there a lot more lately. The new features interest him, and there are places from home he can't help revisiting. Not always to fight, since it's no longer required, though he throws those scenarios in sometimes too. But mostly he's in there obsessively going back through particular scenes.]

[At the moment, Mulder can be seen sitting in the living room where Samantha disappeared from. The board game Stratego is still set up in place near him, the game left unfinished. It's exactly as the room looked all those years ago. A blinding bright light flashes somewhere in the background.]

I wonder what determines the point in time we're taken from? It appears entirely random from all that I've encountered so far. Almost like someone's throwing darts at a timeline or choosing those times out of a hat. A really ugly hat. I also wonder... why some people are brought here after death. [Jonathan. Gem. ...Sigh.] It doesn't seem fair, to grant someone a new life only to throw them back eventually anyway.

...speaking of that, I've been curious about something for a while. [And needing to expand his files, he's already delved into kidnappings, revival has always been somewhere on his list too.] If anyone who's died before, either here or at home, wouldn't mind indulging me for a couple of questions? I won't ask how it happened or anything, just... some related details on the topic. Thanks in advance.

[Of course Mulder would be pinged by that, he'd probably find Tia's world quite fascinating too, since well, they worship dragons.] It truly is very complicated, and I would not wish to openly discuss it over the journals. The simple explanation is that when certain elements of my world ceased to exist, I vanished along with them since my existence depends on theirs.

Maybe someday I can talk you into giving that long version? [Mulder understands paranoia, though, and some things he'd reserve for completely off journal.]

[For now, though, he considers what she's saying. The concept is pretty understandable, and it basically counts for his purposes.]
For now, I'm curious about your arrival and whether your previous state impacted that in any way. Do you remember anything from the point of vanishing to waking up here?

[identity profile] maidenofdemise.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't impossible. [Though she isn't kidding about the complicated part. She'd have to explain about the whole cycle of death and rebirth, the balance of the world, the dragons themselves, and a lot more, and that only covers a small part of the world.] But to answer your question, no. It was definitely most confusing to actually even wake up as myself. In my world we are reincarnated after a time, usually with no knowledge of our previous lives.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Then maybe someday we'll hang out and have a talk about it. I'm always fascinated by other worlds anyway. [Especially a world where reincarnation is a regular thing.] But this time, you do remember your previous life back home?

I do. The last thing I recall was seeing my little sister recovered from the fever she had gotten and saying goodbye to her. It was the first time she had spoken in years, so it is not likely something I'll forget.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Your sister... I'm so sorry. Being separated- especially after only just regaining her- must be difficult.

[Yeah, Mulder is letting things be derailed a moment, because the sister thing is one of those Very Big Issues for him. He can sympathize 100%.]

[identity profile] maidenofdemise.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm more sad for her than for me. I took her in when she was little and she had lost her parents and then lost me. I know she will be fine and well-cared for with how many truly wonderful friends I had.

Losing a sibling in any way is one of the hardest things to go through. But she's fortunate, to have people like that.

[He goes quiet a moment.]

So... you're saying that all of your memories are intact, correct? Nothing seems to be incomplete in any way?

[identity profile] maidenofdemise.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Maya is very fortunate, but she's such a sweet girl.

And yes, my memories are intact. Like others, I only do not recall how I arrived here, just that I did and was missing my clothing and possessions.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing else was wrong, either? No missing limbs, senses, anything?

[It's one of those things he figures the answer to, but he's also asking for the sake of thoroughness.]

[identity profile] maidenofdemise.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
That would be correct. Nothing missing or even added beyond what is normal for anyone else arriving.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-22 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Good, that tells me what I wanted, and should help my research. Even if their methods are still pretty well shrouded in mystery.

[identity profile] maidenofdemise.livejournal.com 2011-09-22 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
I am glad I could be of help then. I do hope you will share the results of your research, it sounds most interesting.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. I've been compiling a great deal of research- on this and other topics as well. I hope to make it available to anyone who'd like it. Maybe someone will have a new insight one day...

[He doesn't care that it's public knowledge, what he's doing, and in ways he wants the Malnosso to know he's not just kicking back and going along with this. Though the files themselves are more protected, and definitely not in journals.]
