[Mulder is lying half-conscious on the ground somewhere in the general vicinity of the Battle Dome. The skin around his eyes, nose, and mouth is all red and inflamed, and whole sections of feathers have fallen out of his wings. He's got just enough of a mind to recognize that he's felt like this before. Alien blood. He's been exposed somehow, and he's suffering the aftereffects. The how and where he is now might take a bit to catch up with him though.]

[After a moment, a weak voice can be heard on the journals:]

...ice... need... need cold.

[Why can't the return to the village be painless and hassle-free? Or just... returning with a funny haircut or something.]

It's... I'm infected. I need cold...

[He would explain, but... Maybe when he's more up to it.]

[Oswald has no clue what Mulder means, but it sounds bad.]

Infected? Definitely sounds like somethin' the clinic folk should look into. You just try and get yerself over there, and I'll come check up on ya later, okay?

Yeah, it's... [Luckily he has someone coming along to spill ice on him, which should help. He just remembers that the cold stops the virus, whatever it is. Damn it if ever there was a time he needed Scully...]

The clinic- right. Then I'll... I'll be there.

Great! I'll see ya there! [Right after he's gone shopping for a fruit basket. And maybe some 'get well' flowers.]

All right... Thanks, Oswald.

[And meanwhile he'll wait for some ice and then he'll be able to get going after that.]

[And so, about an hour later, Oswald will appear at the clinic holding a picnic basket full of fruit and a single wildflower he randomly picked up somewhere along the way. Both have inky smudges on them, as Oswald's mallynap effect is still causing a bit of trouble.

Now, to locate Mulder...]

[Mulder is in one of the beds, currently propped up by some pillows. He's been doused with a lot of ice and magical ice spells at this point, and is still getting some of that on and off for the moment. Also a good dose of antivirals of some kind, he'd remembered Scully mentioning something about that last time this happened... though last time had been just some exposure to it, not deliberate tests dousing him in the stuff.]

[He's trying to glance through the journals for lack of anything better to do, and catch up on the week or so he'd been gone for. But it's slow going the way he currently feels.]

Hey hey, Mulder! [Oswald has no problems shouting at him from the other side of the room, nope.

Of course, once he's sure he's gotten Mulder's attention, he approaches the bed and immediately dumps the fruit basket on the nearby cabinet.]

How ya feelin'?

[Mulder sets aside the journal for now, attention fully caught by Oswald's shouting. He looks somewhat curiously at the fruit, as soon as his appetite returns more he'll undoubtedly be digging in. He still looks rather sickly, but his humor at least hasn't been effected.]

Like I belong in a frozen foods package. At least I'm here and not still being a personal guinea pig?

[Mulder may want to wash some of the fruit off. Oswald touched it and while his paint is prooobably not poisonous when ingested, it's best not to take any chances. He lays the flower down beside the fruit basket, making an even bigger mess of things.]

That's definitely a plus! So how long've you been gone, anyway? I think I missed ya being taken.

[Mulder remembers the dates he's seen on the journal.]

It wasn't too much longer than a week. Give or take a couple days. It feels... like much longer.

[Now he's becoming aware of the way that Oswald is... uh... what's the proper term even here, dripping?]

What happened to you?

[He shrugs nonchalantly, but as he does so, his ears wobble so forcefully that a few drips of ink are sent flying.]

The Malnosso happened. Thought they'd have a little fun with my paint. It should pass soon enough, but right now it's a bit of a pain.

You were taken too? Damn it, can't they leave us alone...

[That explains the dripping, much better now. Mulder looks a little concerned now.]

You're not... in any danger of losing all of your ink or anything, are you?

[Oswald, on the other hand, looks pretty unconcerned about this whole thing.] I don't think so. Right now, I'm just an endless fountain of ink.

[At least he's not melting into nothing before his very eyes.]

These kidnapping aftereffects get old really fast, don't they?

[Oswald did actually fear that for the first ten minutes or so. Then he realized he wasn't shrinking in the least and thought it was actually kind of cool.]

Eh, I dunno. I have to say, this is kind of funny. I mean, how many people can say they've ever had something like this happen to 'm?

[That appeals to Mulder's odd sense of humor too.]

Not a bad story to share around a campfire. I can't say I've seen anything like it yet, either.

[Not that he knows too many cartoon characters personally though.]

Never a dull day, huh? Imagine if the Malnosso weren't experimentin'. It'd get old here pretty fast.

We would get pretty bored, wouldn't we?

It's like I always say: What's life without adventures? [Of course, being the star of a cartoon series, he's used to having adventures like... every other day. Or, rather, he had them before he 'retired'.]

Not to mention, I would be out of a job if everything was completely uneventful and mundane...

[And let's face it, Mulder thrives on weirdness. Even if at times he jumps in a little too quickly and ends up in over his head.]

Hey, now that ya mention it... What is your job, anyway?

[He grabs a nearby chair and moves it to Mulder's bedside. Then he takes a seat, covering it in ink while doing so.]

[Oh, right, they never got around to discussing that.]

I'm an FBI Agent... my expertise is investigating paranormal cases.

FBI agent... So what do you do when you've investigated a paranormal case? Do ya solve the mysteries behind 'm?

That's right, we solve cases that defy explanation, oftentimes our 'suspects' end up being supernatural entities... or other phenomena.
