[Voice]

[There's a quiet crunching sound before Mulder speaks up, sounding thoughtful.]

Show of metaphorical hands. Or antennae, whichever you're partial to: Who here has been kidnapped for a special one-on-one date with our captors? I'd like to arrange an off-journal meeting to speak about your personal experiences if anyone happens to have some free time. It shouldn't take long, just a few minutes. I'll be hanging around the shops in town most of the day, I've got some... supplies I've been meaning to find. [Still looking for a basketball, woe and alas.] We can always head elsewhere from there, though.

I understand that it's a sensitive topic for most people, and it's all right if you'd rather not talk about it. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, just slip a note under my door detailing anything you can remember about the experience itself. Anything at all, before, during, after. Your answers will be kept in confidence. I'm in Community Building 7, Floor 2, Room 10.

Catherine fed us the list in advance.

...all for the purpose of helping a larger party infiltrate the Malnosso facility.

An infiltration? For what purpose? Did they uncover anything when they went in?

[Oh god he WISHES he could have been here and involved in that. Infiltrating secret government and/or mad scientist facilities is right down his alley.]

Oh, yes. We uncovered quite a lot - the chance to have even a few hours to wander inside a facility was quite the opportunity.

According to Catherine, the purpose was to give us a better understanding of where we were taken when we were kidnapped, with the eventual goal of ending the kidnappings entirely.

[He gestures at his eyes.] As you can see, this goal...didn't hold up.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
No kidding. I wonder if Catherine was telling the truth about that, or was just using the villagers to further some other agenda of his own... But if so, why?

Did you find anything particularly useful while you were out there?

We certainly did.

First and foremost, we managed to get a very good look at how security functions within the facilities. For the record, it's color coded.

[Mulder is definitely taking all of this in, because he's determined to get into that facility. One way or another, he wants to get in and poke around himself.]

Any specifics on what the colors stand for?

Black for security - that was me. Yellow for janitorial staff. White for scientists. There was...red and blue, as well, but I can't remember what they were.

Good to know. Was there any other vital information that you picked up on that break-in?

That was where we learned that there were other villages besides ours', more facilities like this one, and that the Malnosso weren't entirely pleased with the state of this village. We learned about the movements of the Third Party. We got a proper look at the basement levels where the experiments on captured villagers are performed.

...and we were lucky enough to come across something they wanted to keep secret from their own.

[He's looking at him intently, very much interested in this whole thing.]

And what was that?

Re: [Action]

The third floor of the facility was blocked off, by a Shift on the level of the barrier currently surrounding the village.

But we eventually caused enough damage to the building itself that the barrier weakened, and a few of us were able to make our way through.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[It makes him want to get a chance to break in there so much, hearing all of this...]

You weakened the barrier to be passable? If it can be done there...

[He dares not to get his hopes up too much, but damn does this sound good to him.]

...What did you find up there?

[Ugh. Even Mr. Spooky here makes a slightly icked out face. That definitely just crossed a threshold of some kind.]

Bad interior decorating jokes aside, what could possibly be the meaning for that?

We didn't find out. The room was full of monsters - powerful ones, on top of poison gas. We barely made it out with our lives.

There was one scientist left alive in there - one of the villagers in our little group found him. But he was mad with pain by then.

[It's all about as hideous as he'd feared, and now he has confirmation. Maybe even a bit more hideous.]

...And here I thought I already hated them... I can't even begin to speculate yet on what all of that means.

Uncovering all of that... almost leads to more questions than answers...

[God it's so much like being home.]

Re: [Action]

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-06-09 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither could we. And we did speculate, briefly. Opportunities to do so were limited, though. One of the primary goals was to keep the Malnosso from learning what we had learned.

I can't imagine that they didn't realize we'd broken in, but knowing how deep or how far or what we heard the scientist say...we eventually decided that the less said, the more they were kept in the dark, the better.

[Action]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's better that we keep it that way, too, keep it among ourselves. We need to keep any ground that we can gain on them...

[It's a hell of a lot better than nothing, that's for sure. Even if Mulder is well aware that they have a long way to go before they'll have any way of using information against them.]

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-06-11 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
We kept our discussion after the fact to the locked network. The one the Malnosso can't get in at.

So they should still be largely in the dark.

[Action]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear that the security of that network is at least dependable. [He's getting better at filters the more time he spends messing with them, but is still wary of the journals even filtered to the maximum.] We've got a long way to go I'm sure, but... it really is a good start.

...Rachel's efforts to stop the kidnapping of her friend failed, of course. But she did manage to get away, and cause some damage in the bargain.

I believe she managed to disable one of the droids.

Before the other two managed to wound up badly enough to force a retreat, that is.

Even disabling one of them... That had to take some skill, considering how damn unbeatable the things normally are...

Rachel was very powerful, yes.

Helios has managed it, a couple of times. They're vulnerable to massive amounts of electricity.
