[There's a quiet crunching sound before Mulder speaks up, sounding thoughtful.]

Show of metaphorical hands. Or antennae, whichever you're partial to: Who here has been kidnapped for a special one-on-one date with our captors? I'd like to arrange an off-journal meeting to speak about your personal experiences if anyone happens to have some free time. It shouldn't take long, just a few minutes. I'll be hanging around the shops in town most of the day, I've got some... supplies I've been meaning to find. [Still looking for a basketball, woe and alas.] We can always head elsewhere from there, though.

I understand that it's a sensitive topic for most people, and it's all right if you'd rather not talk about it. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, just slip a note under my door detailing anything you can remember about the experience itself. Anything at all, before, during, after. Your answers will be kept in confidence. I'm in Community Building 7, Floor 2, Room 10.

Five? Did you piss one of them off or something? [Joking, but wow, he's alarmed at how much they could become their little playthings.] Ok, how about another easy question- what was the duration of each stay in the Malnosso's private accommodations?

I've wondered.

As for that question, the first time was a few weeks; almost a month. The second was just over a month, by almost a week. The third was for about a couple of weeks, and the fourth was about ten days.

The fifth....

[She winces.]

...was different. They took Kain with me. Anyway, that lasted almost a month and they returned us together.

Maybe there really is a reason for taking you so much... there doesn't seem to be much sense or reason as far as they're concerned, but still. I'm hoping to find it if it IS there.

[Mulder also noticed that wince.]

They take people in a two-for-one, as well? I didn't realize that could happen. What was so horrible about that experience?

They caught us...together. In bed.

[That's graphic enough, so she moves on.]

They returned us with the same lack of protection from the elements, while it was still snowing...and I was frozen solid at the time.

They drop by during intimate moments? Seriously?

Do you have any idea why they might have done that? When you say frozen solid... you mean that literally, don't you?

Yes. I think it took a fire spell to unfreeze me. I couldn't move until then.

So do you remember anything that went on during the abduction itself? Even a vague hint of a memory?

Nothing coherent, just that feeling of growing cold to the point of numbness. Maybe if I hadn't been frozen solid, I would remember more, but I can't be certain of that.

So you spent the whole time under the influence of what would later be the aftereffect... What about the person with you- your significant other? Did they do the same experiment on him?

I don't know. If they did, it wore off before mine did. He doesn't remember much of that time, either...nor do I think he cares to try.

So it's possible they placed you both under different effects... despite being taken at the same time...

Maybe that was the point? They could have wanted to test various status effects or exposure to different elements or something entirely different, for all we know.

It does sound like they like variation in their tests. And you said you've been taken several times, so I'm guessing each time had a different effect?

[She nods, staring off as she recalls those past events.]

The first time, I was 'merely' wounded and exhausted. There weren't any other side-effects, but it did take me a few days and a lot of healing to recover. The second time was roughly the same, only add a lot more dizziness.

The third...I was effectively blind and I couldn't walk. And that was in January, too. And the fourth, I was under some kind of poison effect.

It sounds like they started to get more creative. [He says the last word with a good trace of contempt.] ...Do you remember much about the captivity itself? For any of those times?

Nothing solid. I must have been drugged. All I can remember are people in lab coats with those masks.

So far, that appears to be a common occurrence. And all those aftereffects, they took a little while to clear up? Just like the experiments, nothing was permanent, right?

No, though some took longer to clear up than others. I think the longest was ten days?

I...don't think so. The only other thing that comes to mind is that they almost never left me anywhere convenient. I guess they figured they might as well add insult to injury and make me difficult to find.

Of course they wouldn't have such decency. [Annoyed face, people like them do the same thing back home too.] ...Thanks, for all of this. It really helps having a firsthand account from someone who's been through it so many times.
