[Voice]

[There's a quiet crunching sound before Mulder speaks up, sounding thoughtful.]

Show of metaphorical hands. Or antennae, whichever you're partial to: Who here has been kidnapped for a special one-on-one date with our captors? I'd like to arrange an off-journal meeting to speak about your personal experiences if anyone happens to have some free time. It shouldn't take long, just a few minutes. I'll be hanging around the shops in town most of the day, I've got some... supplies I've been meaning to find. [Still looking for a basketball, woe and alas.] We can always head elsewhere from there, though.

I understand that it's a sensitive topic for most people, and it's all right if you'd rather not talk about it. Or if you'd rather be anonymous, just slip a note under my door detailing anything you can remember about the experience itself. Anything at all, before, during, after. Your answers will be kept in confidence. I'm in Community Building 7, Floor 2, Room 10.

[That gets her attention.]

Mr. Mulder? It is, isn't it? I'm pleased to meet you. [The picture window to the rescue, really; she has at least that vague idea of his appearance.]

It's good to see you in the flesh, I'm not sure we've had a chance to talk in person yet. [Though considering how wrapped up in his work he gets... it's not surprising. He's realizing now that maybe it's good that paranoia forced him to get out.]

Thanks for being so willing to indulge my curiosity, too.

[She faces him directly, and speaks earnestly.] It's not to indulge your curiosity. I just think it might be better to find a pattern, or something, if we share as much as possible.

[Mulder nods, at once becoming entirely serious.] ...and that's the real reason driving my questions.

The experiments, the abductions... all of it. It all has to have a pattern to it, or maybe certain details that can help us better understand how they run things.

You say you've been taken? Only once before?

[She nods, answering efficiently.]

Just once. It was several months ago. I've tried to pay attention to others, too, but there isn't a pattern that I've noticed.

That's the problem I'm seeing too. Everything around here, abductions included, seems so... random.

Could you tell me about the abduction experience itself?

Everything here would be difficult to set up and require a lot of energy. It seems unlikely that it would truly be random. There should be a purpose for this much effort. We may just not know what it is yet.

And even when I was taken, I only somewhat remember it now.

It's trying to figure out that reason that's the real piece of work. To stop an enemy, you often have to get to know them... but the Malnosso keep themselves so shrouded in mystery. [Ah. He will never stop being a profiler even here.]

...People seem to have pretty unclear memories. So you don't remember anything from the time while they had you captured?

[Action]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-06-02 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just... I went home for awhile after that. I don't remember everything about Luceti clearly after that.

[And being Ami, she remembers the truly traumatic things less.]

[Action]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
So when you returned here after going home, you at least had some memories of being here before?

[That's interesting to him, since the way people are brought back and sent away... he's heard that a lot of the time they return with no memories at all.]

[Action]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, not at all.

[She'd been explaining that when she returned to Luceti, she gradually remembered being in Luceti before.]

But once I came back, gradually, I started to remember being here before.

Were you gone from here for very long, in your perspective?

[Action]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Four years. It was four years for me at home before I came back here. But here, only a short while went by.

I wonder what makes some people more prone to being pulled back here...

[He's heard some vague things about that, after all.]

Back to the abduction experience though, do you at least know whether you experienced any lasting effects afterward? Even if it's a vague idea of something being off?

[Action]

[identity profile] no-use-running.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
There are always effects. But, they're different for each person each time.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
They're very individually targeted... I assume they must select their victims deliberately, too- with all the data they presumably have on us, they undoubtedly know who will be the ideal subject for any given test.

It's just speculation, of course. There'd be no way of knowing for sure. [He sighs.] But thank you, for telling me what you know.
