[Finally, after all this time! Mulder has found that much-desired basketball. He's in luck too, as it's well-inflated, not a sign of wear or tear on it. Too many times, he's come across half-deflated or otherwise messed up ones. But this one is perfect. It's as if there's finally some compensation for all the usual rounds of disappearances and so on. He's really needed this. He starts dribbling the ball right as he leaves the shop and continues bouncing the thing everywhere he goes throughout the day. It can also be heard in the background of his voice transmission.]

Does anyone have any unique birthday traditions they care to share? I wonder how similar these traditions might be between the worlds... Let's just say I'm curious, for purely theoretical reasons.

...By the way, is there anyone out there who'd be up for shooting some hoops or even getting together a pick-up game of basketball? Of course, we'd actually need to throw together a hoop somehow first, but minor details! If you've never played before, I promise I'll go easy on you.

Some people specialize in one type of fighting style. Shikamaru Nara, one of my colleagues here, uses shadows to bind and then sew his opponent. Or slice him with his shadows. I specialize in weaponry and summoning weapons from scrolls to rain down on my opponents. I could have taken up elemental ninjutsu, but I decided to stick to various weapons, because Guy-sensei noticed I had talents with space-time ninjutsu. However, sometimes there are people that utilize multiple types of elemental attacks or styles, but that's considerably rare. Even then, fighting styles and how people use these attacks are mostly limited to one person, which is odd if you think about it. People are able to learn whatever techniques they wish, those most are closely guided secrets by clans. If you learn it, you can, in theory use it. The only time this won't apply is with kenkei genkai, techniques which are inherited through genetics.

You know, with the battledome, I might be able to recreate opponents I've faced for us to spectate.

[He loves it, all of this. To think there's an entire world of all of these mysterious - and admittedly really damn cool- fighting techniques. Shadows that slice! Messing with space-time! He could devote a whole section of files just to all of this.]

I'd like to see those, sometime- I'd be fascinated by any and all of it. Most of what you've mentioned is so different than anything I've encountered before...

[And he's encountered a lot in his time.]

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Indeed, and Tenten would be all too happy to talk about it! ]

All right. I'll be sure to set it sometime. I think I can give you a brief demonstration right here.

[ Out of Tenten's hidden pocket is a very small scroll, it's barely an inch in height. She holds it between her index and thumb finger before nodding. ] You see this, right?

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds good to me, I'm always up for a little show and tell.

[Mulder nods then, peering at the scroll curiously.]

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ Tenten flicks her finger, launching the the scroll several meters up into the air. Fox should see the interesting writing patterns as Tenten taps the back of the scroll. Without any warning, any and all parts of the scroll above Fox will shoot out. A vast array of weapons, swords, needles, knives, tiger claws, flails, kunais and shuriken, swarm over his head before crashing into a wall. ]

It's pretty much that. Though there are other things I can summon from my scrolls.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Ok, THAT... was a really cool demonstration. He looks really intrigued by this.]

I can see how this would help in the middle of a fight... What else can you summon?

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ She seals the items. They quickly disappear in a puff of smoke as Tenten coils the scroll once more. ]

Melee weaponry, fireballs, exploding dragons, ships, metal dolls, grenades, even other scrolls!

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Remind me never to underestimate a ninja in a fight. Not that I ever would, but still... that's an amazing item.

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is! I've began to use them about five years ago. I can't believe it's been so long since then.

Normal humans without chakra can use them if I prepare them correctly, though it's a bit harder and more taxing to fight with this, since it'll be timed and touch based, rather than myself who can just transfer chakra through the scroll to unleash the items.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really? But it's still possible? That could be a useful tool, especially if people don't have other ways to defend themselves...

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
It is possible, but making them in bulk is difficult. Chakra is something that's found in every cell in my body, but, it's fairly taxing to use in large quantities. Making a scroll for everyone could possibly be fatal, and, I have no way to verify how honest people are or not and what they'd use the scroll for.

Not to mention, I do have a limited supply of weaponry, and I'd have to reseal them all since the people that obtain the scrolls can't.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Which is perfectly understandable. It sounds like it would be too much to do anything on a wide scale... and likely that's for the best anyway. Keep it in the hands of those who know what they're doing with it.

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. If there's certain occasions after I know a person thoroughly enough to want them to be protected, I could do it. Even then, it'd require some sort of training, or warning at the very least. You just don't hand people explosives without telling them.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
It must require a great deal of training, then? To get to the point of safely using anything like that...

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no. I wouldn't say great deal. Once you got the basics on timing down, it's more or less simple. You just have to be dexterous with hand speed, or finger speed. If you wish to summon to wield or toss a weapon with your hands, that's another story entirely.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
So the more powerful or complex, the more difficult to get it to work. Like most skills out there. [Mulder nods understanding. Also he can't help but think... how COOL would it have been if the ninjas on his world had access to things like that? What if some of them already have similar!?] I can't wait to see more sometime.

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, summoning remains the same, except for the slight different between flinging the item so fast it appears as a white streak in the sky and summoning to wield. You don't have to use fingers or hands to toss weaponry if you just go with the scroll flinging them out automatically. However, you have to learn to wield a weapon in close combat purposes, that is, if you choose to store some in the first place. [ She holds up another scroll of a similar size of the first, making sure the glances at it. ]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-25 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Mulder eyes the scroll closely, noticing the similarity.]

That makes sense... you want to know how to use any weapon before using it in the heat of battle, in that way. It seems like a really good method for keeping weapons on hand in general though...

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-25 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
They are. Most ninja can seal things but very few, like me, specialize in them. It can seal more than weaponry though, so if you have a gun, or a grenade, or a ship or a bed or something you can seal it there. They can also be used to store -

[ She tosses the scroll into the air, which summons another larger scroll!

Yep. She really did just do that. The scroll lands comfortably in her hands with a huge smile. ]

A larger scroll!

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Scroll within a scroll... and what's the difference with the larger ones, are they more powerful?

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-27 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The larger scrolls just have more items, usually. I guess if that's how you define powerful, then yes. It just means I have more tools than the smaller scrolls, which have very limited sets and sometimes only one specialized weapon.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-28 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's very useful. You could carry a great deal with just a few of those larger ones...

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-28 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. The largest thing I ever carried was an entire ship. It was quite the effort though, let me tell you...

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
That must have been a sight when you pulled that out...

[identity profile] projectiled.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Quite a few people were surprised, especially since I nearly summoned it on top of them. [ nearly being crushed by a giant ship is not a villains proudest moment! ]
