[Finally, after all this time! Mulder has found that much-desired basketball. He's in luck too, as it's well-inflated, not a sign of wear or tear on it. Too many times, he's come across half-deflated or otherwise messed up ones. But this one is perfect. It's as if there's finally some compensation for all the usual rounds of disappearances and so on. He's really needed this. He starts dribbling the ball right as he leaves the shop and continues bouncing the thing everywhere he goes throughout the day. It can also be heard in the background of his voice transmission.]

Does anyone have any unique birthday traditions they care to share? I wonder how similar these traditions might be between the worlds... Let's just say I'm curious, for purely theoretical reasons.

...By the way, is there anyone out there who'd be up for shooting some hoops or even getting together a pick-up game of basketball? Of course, we'd actually need to throw together a hoop somehow first, but minor details! If you've never played before, I promise I'll go easy on you.

It is! It's definitely one of my favorite sports.

[His world is just awesome for things like this. And he gets the ball next, dribbling along.]

[ At this point, Tenten tries to charge at the man. She's surprisingly quick, but being a ninja this may not be very surprising. He should be able to dribble around it, having very superior experience and height. ]

What other sports from home do you have?

[Mulder manages to get by, though it's definitely a challenge given how speedy she is.]

Let's see... another all-time favorite of mine is baseball. There's also football, tennis, soccer, hockey... we have a lot to choose from, back home.

You're going to have to teach me those too someday, if you want. [ She keeps on him, more or less keeping an equal pace as she's blatantly determined to steal the ball. ]

Good, I'm having fun too. As crazy as it seems, in a place like this...

[And off he goes to start back in playing.]

Things seem too serious to be able to just play a game of basketball, don't they sometimes?

Yeah, experiments and kidnappings really kill any funloving mood. At least we don't have to wait for another Lucetiland moment to get some kind of break, now...

[He'll definitely be coming out to hang out here and shoot hoops as much as he can.]

[Mulder notices the quickness- which definitely catches his interest right away, as a paranormal investigator. He really needs to turn that off better when he's supposed to be not-working.]

I'm guessing the rules are pretty much unchanged in your time? We could go with, say, first one to twenty one?

[Good thing he's played most of them! Some more than others, but he could at least go through basics and rules for them.]

I'd be up for that. We could use more entertainment around here that isn't Malnosso-caused.

Have you considered further ways to change the situation?

Considered, plenty of things. [Bouncing the ball along.] Nothing that's really stood out so far, unfortunately. I keep running into roadblocks. Have you heard of anyone making any progress lately?

Yeah. I'd much rather learn new sports than end up turning into King Arthur again. [ Horray for learning more cultural sports! Maybe Luceti can have its very own basketball team....

That does nothing, at all, since there are no opposing teams. ]

Just so long as it's not eleven! [Once more, Jack is on the defensive. He tries to position himself so as to block the best path to the basket, but stays on his toes just in case.]

[Now that she's growing more comfortable with playing with him, Ami puts herself between Mulder and the basket, blocking him rather rigorously.]

Not yet. But with everything happening lately, it's been hard to focus on that. I still believe that may be one of the purposes of the 'experiments'.

And what did the number eleven ever do to you?

[Mulder keeps his footwork going, and steps things up as he starts closing in and getting to a good spot to shoot...]

[Which means Mulder steps up his game, looking for just the right moment...]

Keep us from making any substantial progress on anything. Yeah, I could see that. The interruption is just enough to throw us off, not to mention recovery time after some of them...

"Turning into King Arthur?"

[Yeah they would... have to set up a couple of teams somehow. Mulder could see how it'd be tricky with the disappearances and reappearances, but getting a couple groups of five once in a while... it could happen.]

Exactly. [Just like her words just might be distracting Mulder now. But probably not. She makes her move to try for the ball herself.]

Basically, I felt a compulsion to find a legendary sword and kill every dragon I could find. I went into the woods for days looking for a dragon, but, to no avail.
