[The first day, his room had been just like his office back home. Nice and cozy, and made him miss it. But on day two, Mulder wakes to discover that his room is an Antarctic... paradise. His teeth are chattering like mad as he goes off to head out.]

It's f- -f- freezing in here. I hope I still have all my toes, I haven't bothered to count. And m- my c- closet is now an entrance to a top secret base, but I can't open the damn thing! I keep wondering if I can get into it, would I still be able to find anything? I know it's not really home, but if it's an exact replica...

...By the way, if anyone comes across a shape-shifting, dark haired man, DON'T SHOOT. This is important. I've already encountered a couple of them, there may be more. I- Shit, I've got to run-

[Following days: Until the final day of the event, Mulder will be running around town in pursuit of Alien Bounty Hunters who appear to have quite literally invaded Luceti. He's noticeably not carrying his gun although he's got it on him since he knows there's other stuff around. Instead he's wielding this pointy steel weapon.]

Ok! Try not to get lost when you get here!

[Mulder slams the book shut and begins chasing his prey through the large, impossible to navigate corn field that's just popped up. It's a lot like the one he was chased through not too long ago back home, actually...]

[Warping into the cornfield, Rydia doesn't let that faze her as she glances around. Hearing the sound of footsteps, she darts in that direction. Hopefully, this is Mulder and not one of the Battle Dome's bandits....]

[How about Mulder AND a bandit. Facing off, in the corn, guns drawn at each other.]

[...and the bandit just happens to exactly resemble Mulder, so it essentially looks like two Mulders facing off against each other. Don't you just love dealing with doubles, Rydia?]

Rydia! Be careful! [Shouts one Mulder]

[The second one also shouts out:] Rydia, he's trying to trick you!

[Oh, joy.]

Don't make me toad you both and sort it out later. Got any proof?

[Here's Mulder 1:] Come on, you know me, Rydia! I chase after flying saucers and little green men.

[Aaaand Mulder 2:] He's just saying that because he's from my world, and everyone knows that about me.

[Temptation to toad, rising.]

How many times did I say I was kidnapped?

[Mulder 1 looks unsure.] Five?

Lucky guess. [This Mulder shakes his head. How can be prove it if the other one stole his thunder already?] You did tell me five, but you're up to six now. It happened recently again, right?

That's right.

[So, toading Mulder 1.]

[Mulder grins on watching the other self be turned into a toad. That spell is still the coolest thing ever, to him.]

Whew, I was getting worried for a minute there... Can that transformation be permanent?

[She nods.]

Or until I feel like reversing it.

[Which she doesn't.]

Do you have more impersonators around?

There's a strong possibility of more, I've already run across a few. That's why I have this.

[He waves the pointy alien-hunting weapon around.]

They can make themselves look like anyone too, so they could even be you, or someone you know, provided they've come across them. Their power is damn good, but they're mercifully not psychic.

[She winces at the thought of encountering more Kain-doubles, though.]

I wish I had magic that made it easy to sort that out, but I don't. Not yet, anyway.

That's what makes them so dangerous. There's no way of detecting them, unless they're spouting blood. Or, I suppose, you happened to be a mind-reader. I try to catch them when I see them in their default form.

...what is their default form?

Short, dark hair, really tough-looking guy... Like that over there!

[Mulder points as another Bounty Hunter approaches, still in that form.]

[Rydia narrows her eyes...and sends a blast of fire his way.]

[Fire is good, it catches part of the alien-man ablaze and he falls over. Mulder covers his nose and mouth as best he can and rushes in to jab the alien in the back of the neck.]

[While Mulder does that, Rydia spares a quick glance around. She doesn't want to be ambushed while concentrating only on the enemy before them. However, she doesn't see anything else at the moment, and so heads over after Mulder's done.]

I'd say let's seek a safe place to catch a break...but are there any, considering?

I think for now, we're stuck with whatever gets thrown at us.

[Mulder also looks around, but seeing nothing so far coming at them, he breathes a sigh of relief. Maybe a short reprieve? He knows it won't last long if so.]

[She nods, then looks thoughtful.]

Can I have your company at the Welcome Center? I just want to check and make sure that zombies aren't tearing it apart or whatnot.
