[Now he's had more time to practice filters, he's trying one out. He's sure this matter has been brought up before at some point in time anyhow, so it's not like it's too sensitive. But he has to ask, since it seems like people never discuss it. At the moment, Mulder can be seen holding a small handheld mirror and tapping it absentmindedly into the palm of his other hand. He has a thoughtful expression on his face.]

...I bet it's been tried before, but... Has anyone ever had the barcode on the back of their neck examined? Is there a doctor in the house, or anyone with a medical background who's ever tried removing it from someone? ....Or maybe just someone in possession of a state of the art grocery store scanner to check it out? [What, YOU NEVER KNOW.] For that matter, can we be entirely sure they haven't implanted anything additional in us?

Aside from that, I'm almost starting to feel a sense of routine and normality, between my ongoing quest to commune with the spirits and now working on what's essentially becoming the Lucetian X-Files. I have some faint hope that documenting the experiments will give me a better understanding of this place. Although I would kill for a computer to type them out on. Uh... not literally kill, for the record.

A flood of newcomers means I get to officially upgrade my New Feather badge to the next level... [Warning! Warning! Incoming snark mode!] Welcome to paradise, everyone. The food is free, but the TV reception is terrible, the recreational activities consist of reality-altering experiments which will make you wish you were on reality-altering drugs, and the vacation staff running the place have a mysterious fetish for wings. Overall I give this resort a half star. You really should have gone to Disneyworld instead.

Good, I can't wait to check it out. [Hell, yes! It makes Mulder glad, it's like he has one of his Lone Gunmen buddies around.]

We sure will. I believe if we work on it, we'll find a way.

I dunno. I think the cap was gone when I got drafted, but I still couldn't get to the Lanes Between.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hm... So even if that power cape is raised, there are still limits.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
I've just spoken to him... though admittedly, I'm trying not to creep him out too much from the get-go. I wonder if he'd let me touch his tricorder someday...

I'm assuming anyway, that most people probably don't take too well to being told they come from a TV series?

[It even bended Mulder's mind a bit to think that in some other universes, people see HIM that way. But his mind is made for bendy-ness.]

True, they do tend to prefer that the female lead can kick some ass in addition to having the dramatic rescue scene. Scully is also the skeptic to my believer, which I suppose could work for the sake of entertainment...

That's a relief that it didn't become widespread. I think you have a good handle on keeping it contained, usually.

Figures that our lovely captors wouldn't go through the trouble of curing you fully though. You have to figure they potentially could, if they wanted. [But for the sake of mad science? Yeah, he knows that people like that would never fix anything they found interesting.]

...Yeah. It's a strong reminder of what we are to them.

The future- or my present- is a pretty interesting place, what with the barcodes, lasers, spaceships and so on. I'd consider it a mix of both good and bad. We've solved a lot of problems, but also created more for ourselves.

Then not so different from the past in the important places. That's good to know.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help with your search. It seems I have more questions than answers for you.

Hm hmm... And does she like to use sarcasm with that?

Don't think they can cure me. Just slide me along the timeline until I'm not as bad off.

They don't take it well at all. Bones, especially.

[ a deep breath, then: ] Which? Don't call him that. Only some people get to call him that. [ and clearly she is one of them. ]

They did fix my arm. Does that count?

[Okay, the medication they used reacted specially violently with healing magic and they didn't bother to tell Giles. Still.]

[identity profile] risingwinds.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It might not be the Malnosso's fault, though. Maybe it's got something to do with this world...

[He doesn't need luck, he has resourcefulness.] I'll let you know as soon as I isolate the signal.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
That's true... I've been told that they're more or less just as stuck here as we are. So it's not only the Malnosso, but the world itself we have to figure out...

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find out.

[Mulder is starting to feel more and more at home, having geeky tech-oriented friends around.]

Only if it didn't come with weird side effects.

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Noted and noted. You must know him pretty well to have that privilege...

I somehow had a feeling most people wouldn't like to hear they're fictional somewhere else. Even if it can be explained away by the possibility of different universes and dimensions... We could all be someone else's TV show, you just have to hope it's at least a show with a good run. And that your 'character' doesn't get killed off. [Which now makes him almost want to ask around to find out what happens to him, if others do see him as a show or movie.]
herotypical: [ neutral ; snark ; angry ] (} give me half as much)

I've lived with him for over a year, now. We're practically family.

[ hmm. ] So if someone told you that you were fictional, you wouldn't freak? I'd freak.

[ she did freak. ]

That's fine- I sort of figured as much, anyway. There's so much about this place that's unanswered, and after all this time... no one seems any closer to solving anything.

[It bothers Mulder a great deal that it's like this, but he's dedicated his life to finding the Truth. It'll be no different for him here.]

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, maybe an initial freakout with the appropriate existential dread, but all in all, yeah, I'd be fine with it after that. I'd be curious to know, mostly, how closely the fictional version of events resembles real life.

[identity profile] rain-of-bullets.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
[He frowns a little, but it's less at Mulder and more at this place in general. The guy, whether he's Duchovney on a bad trip or actually the X-files agent, Haine isn't entirely sure, but like everyone else, he's just as stuck here. Seriously Luceti, what the hell.]

Yeah, I get it.

Haine Rammsteiner. Have fun exploring. Got more than enough shit going on here to make up for the X-Files, yeah?

[identity profile] ufo-fanboy.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's good to meet you, Haine, despite any confusion I seem to have caused. And this place ought to keep be busy for a lifetime- or until we get out of here. Whichever comes first.
