[Mulder has more or less settled into an apartment with the things he's found so far from the shops... but that's not where he is at the moment. Too restless to hang around, and convinced he can figure something out, he's gone out on a trip to take a look at the barrier. He's even equipped himself with some camping gear he managed to find and enough supplies for a few days at least.]

[When he finally gets to the barrier, he wastes no time in emptying a clip as he shoots at it. Of course, it does nothing. And of course that doesn't mean he's about to give up so easily, he just needs to give it some more thought. He stays up well into the night at his 'campsite', thinking and wondering about the situation in general. Sleep, what's that? Eventually some other issues start weighing on his mind too, and he gets out his journal. He's too paranoid to ask about barrier breaking tips over the journals anyway, so he sticks to relatively safer topics.]

Since this is transmitted to the general population, I've got a few concerns I'd like to bring up...

First of all, I need to know if anyone has run across a Samantha Mulder or a Dana Scully at any time past or present during their stay here. It's really important that I get any information I can on either of them. [He pauses for a moment.]

...I'm also interested in learning more about these 'filial spirits' as the guide calls them. What's been the experience for any non-natural magic users in particular, did you find it very difficult to master their skills? Do most people find it easiest to start contacting those friendlier spirits and then going on from there?

I'd appreciate any information I can get.

I'm glad to hear that. I'm about as magical as a can of root beer, but I'm very willing and open to learning.

If I were starting out with Nala, I should just keep my senses open pretty much anywhere I go? I notice that she's mentioned as being relatively easy to contact...

Nala is very eager to share her gifts with others, yes. The magic doesn't come right away, of course; you have to earn her trust before she teaches you. Meditiation helps draw her close as well, she likes calmness.

I'll keep at it as long as I have to. [It's as much a distraction from other things as it is a really cool thing for someone like him to try.]

And that's good, I found it to be really helpful while I've been settling in. I assume if I come up with any unusual questions about life here, I could run them by you?

It's good to meet you Raine. I'm Agent Fox Mulder. [It's force of habit, and even if he's not technically reporting to the FBI here he's not likely to stop thinking in that way.] I'm a... type of paranormal investigator back where I'm from, so all of this stuff is really exciting to me.

You do seem readily open to new experiences, so I suppose this place might provide a lot for you to study. After all, everyone has their own ideas of normalcy, but here all sorts of worlds have been brought together. It's quite a learning process.

Aside from that part where we're being trapped here as unwilling test subjects... I could really get to like some aspects about this place. I'm especially looking forward to learning more about other people's worlds.

As long as you don't lose sight of that part, it is a good opportunity. After all, it's a lot of time on your hands. Might as well use it to your liking.

I haven't had so much time on my hands in years, if ever... I almost don't know what to do with myself. But I'm sure I won't lose sight of what's really important about this situation... I'm tenacious in that way.

There's still getting situated with the village to consider. It'll probably start falling into place once the newness of it all has faded some.

I'll be sure to take steps to familiarize myself with it, in that case. I want to know everything I possibly can find out about our situation.

Almost as long as they've been taking people here, if I've gathered that right? You must have seen a lot of changes take place in all of that time.

That's right. There have been numerous changes to the situation. It's one of the complications of explaining it, when the people coming in see how things are now, as opposed to how they once were.

It would make for quite the history lesson. Hopefully a history that can be learned from and built upon someday...

That's the eventual plan, given so few have been here from earlier on that remain. I suppose the hope is that we'll be free of these cycles before then, but that in itself is questionable.

As long as people are willing to keep trying... I know I'm not about to give up, no matter how long I'm stuck here.

Indeed. As long as we do not become complacent with what is given us, we still retain that hope.

It's good to know that you still think that way after being here so long. I'd hope there are enough others who feel the same.
